Sri Lanka preschool: Nicko Cruises leads Homagama launch

A Sri Lanka preschool we inaugurated in Homagama, near Colombo, was an especially important milestone, and it took place during Vasco da Gama’s call. It was one of those moments that shows a journey can leave more than memories: it can create real impact.

The initiative was led by Nicko Cruises, the company in our Group responsible for Vasco da Gama’s sales in Germany, in partnership with the Fly & Help foundation.

A ceremony with real meaning

The inauguration was marked by an emotional ceremony attended by Mirna Poblete, Arian Schneider and Captain Adrian Firsov, representing Mystic Ocean, as well as Guido Laukamp, CEO of Nicko Cruises.

Education for around 50 children aged 3 to 5

The new preschool will support around 50 children, aged 3 to 5, providing a strong foundation for their development and opening doors to new learning opportunities

The role of our guests

We would like to extend a special thank you to our guests. Through their donations and participation in the onboard fundraising cocktail, they helped make this project of hope and education a reality.

Next step: another school in 2027

This is only the beginning. The opening of another school in Sri Lanka is already planned for 2027, reinforcing the MysticInvest Group’s commitment to contributing to local community development and supporting sustainable social impact initiatives.

Infraspeak Awards have once again recognised DouroAzul, for the 6th consecutive year, consolidating the teams’ work in operational efficiency and excellence in maintenance management. In 2026, this recognition carries particular meaning: this time, DouroAzul received the Silver Award.

Ceremony at IFM Summit Lisboa 2026

The award ceremony took place on 19 February, during IFM Summit Lisboa 2026, at the Centro de Congressos do Estoril. On behalf of DouroAzul, the award was received by Nuno Carrilho.

With this new distinction at the Infraspeak Awards, DouroAzul reaffirms its commitment to innovation and to continuously raising efficiency and service standards in the river cruise sector, with an additional milestone in 2026: winning its first Silver Award.
